Full-time tenure-track faculty position for candidates with earned Ph.D. or terminal Master’s degree (MFA in Interior Design) in Interior Design or closely related field. Assistant Professor in a CIDA accredited program.

Eligible candidates must have at least one degree in Interior Design. Full-time, renewable contract, non-tenure track for candidates with earned Master’s degree (not terminal). Position begins August 1, 2021.

Duties: Teach on campus undergraduate courses in four or more of the following areas within the interior design field, residential and commercial interior design studios (beginning to advanced), design presentation and media (hand and digital), interiors and furnishings, interior design products, materials and methods of building construction including construction documentation, and digital presentation application (Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, InDesign).

Other responsibilities include advising and mentoring undergraduate students, department and college committee service, and scholarly research and activity.

Qualifications: Earned Master’s degree required with specialization in interior design or closely related area.  Earned doctoral degree or terminal Master’s degree preferred with specialization in interior design or closely related area.  Professional design experience and successful teaching experience strongly preferred. Candidate must be studio proficient and tech savvy. NCIDQ certification required.  Experience with the CIDA accreditation process is preferred. Must establish NC residency by August 1, 2021.

The Interior Design Program is housed within the Department of Human Environmental Sciences which also includes programs in Child Development, Fashion Merchandising and Design, and Family and Consumer Sciences.  Meredith’s Interior Design program, which has been CIDA accredited since 1993, has an emphasis on professional practice which prepares students for success in positions in commercial and residential design.
