Position Summary: The University of Central Arkansas (UCA; www.uca.edu) seeks a visionary, communicative, and inclusive leader to serve as the dean of the College of Health and Behavioral Sciences (CHBS; www.uca.edu/chbs/). As the leader of CHBS, the dean supports the continued excellence of its outstanding undergraduate and graduate programs, which include both traditional and online programs. With regionally and nationally recognized and accredited programs, CHBS is a primary provider of healthcare professionals for the state of Arkansas. The dean also works collaboratively and strategically with department chairs and faculty to champion the college's interprofessional education initiatives. Such initiatives include developing and planning an interprofessional teaching center with clinical and community services that will be housed in the four-story, 80,000-square-foot Integrated Health Sciences Building, which is currently under construction. The dean works with fellow deans in shaping and leading the academic mission of the university as well as in promoting cross-college initiatives. Finally, the dean publicly represents the college, engaging in the development of academic and community partnerships and in fundraising through collaboration with the UCA Foundation.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

The dean of CHBS reports directly to the Provost and serves as the chief academic officer for the college. Job duties and responsibilities include:
• Provide leadership and vision for the college;
• Support and promote Interprofessional Education (IPE);
• Support the leadership development of chairs and professional development of faculty and staff within the college;
• Promote an inclusive, respectful, and developmental environment among faculty, staff, and students;
• Work collaboratively across the University and the community to implement and enhance academic programs, including online programs;
• Engage with alumni and cultivate donors to raise funds in support of the college's initiatives;
• Champion faculty and student recruitment, retention, and success initiatives;
• Develop the college's budget and effectively manage resources; and
• Provide support for the college's assessment practices, including accreditation processes.

: To fulfill the above duties and responsibilities, candidates must possess:
• Leadership and communication skills;

• Ability to advocate, mediate, and build consensus among team members;
• Knowledge of budget strategies and analyses;
• Strong decision-making skills with the ability to consider diverse perspectives;
• Strong strategic planning and organizational skills;
• An ability to navigate challenges and support best practices in higher education;
• An ability to promote and expand community partnerships; and
• Interprofessional relationship and networking skills.

Required Education and/or Experience

Candidates must possess an earned doctorate; a strong record of teaching, research, and service to support a tenured appointment at the rank of associate or full professor in a department within CHBS; demonstrated results in university-community relations and online education; administrative experience at the department chair level or above; experience with accreditation and graduate programs; and demonstrated commitment to diversity.

Preferred Education and/or Experience

Preferred qualifications for Candidates include a background in Interprofessional Education; a vision for an interprofessional teaching center with clinical and community services; demonstrated results in fundraising; and experience with the expansion and/or renovation of buildings/facilities.

Founded in 1907, UCA has an enrollment of approximately 11,500, of which more than 1,800 are graduate students. The university offers 91 undergraduate and 59 graduate certificate and degree programs, including seven doctoral programs.
