Position Summary

The University of Central Arkansas Assistant Professor is responsible for teaching, research and service. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy. The position is tenure track and a nine-month appointment.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

The person selected for this position will be expected to teach, conduct research, and provide departmental and college service, as well as serve as a strong advocate for the program. This position will serve as the Program Director for FACS Education and includes academic advising, administrative work (e.g. related to the UCA Core Assessment, Departmental assessment, and CAEP) and interprofessional collaboration to maintain and extend program visibility.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The successful candidate will possess teaching expertise that complements the strengths of existing faculty. In addition, the successful candidate will possess the ability to conduct individual and collaborative research, establish and maintain a positive and collegial relationship with departmental colleagues, university offices, and serve as a role model for students.

Required Education and/or Experience

The successful candidate will possess a doctorate in Family & Consumer Sciences Education or related area. A completed doctorate is preferred, but ABD will be considered. Related work experience in FACS field and in higher education preferred.

Preferred Education and/or Experience

Preference will be given to the candidate who, in addition to the requirements listed above, possesses the expertise and/or experience in teaching in one or more of the following areas: Curriculum Development, Methods of Teaching, and has a demonstrated record of scholarly achievement.

License(s)/Certifications (Required or Preferred)

Teaching license required
CFCS (Certified in Family and Consumer Sciences) preferred
