Candidates for the position must have an earned doctorate in nutrition, clinical nutrition, or dietetics; demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate and potentially graduate courses in nutrition/food science, medical nutritional therapy, community nutrition, and special topics; direct student field experiences for a Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD), and potentially develop and direct a Dietetic Internship; Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential and Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist (TN) eligible; relevant professional experience in clinical nutrition and dietetics; evidence of ongoing or established scholarship; ability to advise and mentor undergraduate and potentially graduate students; commitment to teamwork and professional involvement.
Candidates for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor will be expected to teach 24 semester hours per year; advise students in the discipline; and contribute to curriculum development, assessment, and accreditation. The candidate will be expected to participate in professional and scholarly activities, contribute to the university and department missions, be a collegial member of the institution at all levels, and provide services to the department and to the community-at-large. Carson-Newman employs faculty and staff who are actively supportive of its aim as an institution with a Christian commitment. The position is a full-time, 9-month, tenure track to begin August 2019.
The Department of Family and Consumer Sciences is fully accredited by the Council for Accreditation of the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences. It currently offers five majors including Child and Family Studies with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education (pre-K-3 teacher licensure); Family and Consumer Sciences with emphases in consumer services and teacher licensure in family and consumer sciences education; Fashion Merchandising and Design; Interior Design; and Foods and Nutrition with an Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) accredited Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD).
