The Department of Family & Consumer Sciences (FACS), College of Health & Behavioral Sciences at the University of Central Arkansas, seeks an Assistant Professor for its General FACS area. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy. The position is tenure track with a nine-month appointment.

Job Duties and Responsibilities 

The person selected for this position will be expected to teach, conduct research, and provide departmental and college service, as well as serve as a strong advocate for the program. This position will include academic advising, administrative work (e.g. related to the UCA Core Assessment) and will require interprofessional collaboration to maintain and extend program visibility.

The successful candidate will possess teaching expertise that complements the strengths of existing faculty. In addition, the successful candidate will possess the ability to conduct individual and collaborative research, establish and maintain a positive and collegial relationship with departmental colleagues, university offices, and serve as a role model for students. 

The successful candidate will possess a doctorate in Family & Consumer Sciences or related area. Completed doctorate is preferred, but ABD will be considered. Related work experience in FACS field and in higher education preferred.

Preference will be given to the candidate who, in addition to the requirements listed above, possesses expertise and/or experience in teaching in one or more of the following areas: Resource Management, Personal Finance, Clothing, and Family Studies, and has a demonstrated record of scholarly achievement. License(s)/Certifications Preferred: CFCS.
