The School of Human Ecology in the College of Health and Human Sciences invites applications and nominations for two positions of Assistant Professor in Fashion Merchandising and Apparel Design.

Position Description. Reporting to the School Chair, the Assistant Professor of Fashion Merchandising and Apparel Design requires teaching, research, and service responsibilities. A terminal degree from an accredited institution in the content area is required. The position is a 9-month, tenure-track appointment, and the salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. Summer teaching may be available. The successful candidates will be qualified to teach courses in fashion merchandising and apparel design; develop an active research program; secure external funding; mentor students; and provide service to the profession, university, and community.

The Department of Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) is seeking team-oriented candidates for a tenure-track position (open rank) in the Food and Nutrition Management sequence of the Food, Nutrition, and Dietetics (FND) program beginning on August 16, 2017. The anticipated appointment is 75% teaching and 25% research/scholarly activity. In addition to teaching and research, a primary responsibility of this position will be to further develop the new Food and Nutrition Management sequence.


Required: Doctoral degree in Hospitality, Food Service Systems Management, Nutrition, or closely related field. Applicants with expected completion of their doctoral degree before May 15, 2018 will be considered. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to teach in the following areas: principles of food preparation, food service management, hospitality, food planning, marketing & cost control, quantity foods, and food science, within the Food and Nutrition Management sequence of a Food, Nutrition, and Dietetics program. Applicants must also demonstrate a record of or potential for research and publication in scholarly journals in the discipline. Candidates must be able to demonstrate oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position, as mandated by state law.  For consideration for appointment at the ranks of associate professor or professor, applicants should have an appropriate record of teaching excellence and scholarship.
