The University of Georgia Department of Human Development and Family Science (HDFS), in the College of Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS), is seeking applications for an Associate or Full Professor with tenure to provide leadership in our focus on child health and well-being. The position is a nine-month academic appointment. We are seeking applications and nominations of individuals with stature in research to be appointed the first endowed Georgia Athletic Association Professor in Family Health Disparities. Start date: August 2015 or as negotiated. Salary is negotiable and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Required Qualifications: Earned doctorate in Human Development and Family Science, or closely related area (social work, psychology, education, public health, sociology), with a focus on child development, particularly child health and well-being and qualified for tenure on appointment at either the full or associate professor level. Appointment to rank of associate professor will be extended to individuals with similar rank at comparable institution and evidence of emerging stature as national authority in the discipline. Appointment to rank of professor will be extended to individuals with at least five years as associate professor (eligible for promotion to rank of professor upon appointment) or rank of professor at comparable institution and must show clear and convincing evidence of high levels of attainment in teaching and research and commensurate national or international recognition related to child health and well-being. A successful applicant must have an established research program and experience working in collaborative multidisciplinary academic environment including sociology, social work, public health, nutrition, education and psychology. We seek demonstrated outstanding scholarly achievement and research productivity including grants and publications, as well as a national and/or international reputation in the area of child health and well-being.
