Position Summary: Teach courses in clothing construction, fashion design / merchandising, pattern-making, fitting / alteration, textiles and related areas, and Foundations (general education). Additional responsibilities include advising students and other department and university assignments. Job Title Extension Assistant/Associate Professor - Family Economics & Resource Management  


Job Description: This is an extension education position. The incumbent will be a member of the Family and Consumer Sciences Department (credentials appropriate for teaching in the Department) in the College of Agriculture, Human and Natural Sciences and will work closely with the research, teaching and outreach efforts of the College. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an integrated extension program in family economics/financial planning and resource management to improve the quality of life for individuals, families and communities and attract external funding in support of applied research and intervention projects. Duties shall include but are not limited to: establishing an active applied research program with an independent base of support funds that can lead to the development of new practices and information to help advance the economic health and wellbeing of families, youth and communities; providing technical support and training to extension staff; communicating documented impact and public value of Extension programs with stakeholders, the general public and peers; developing collaborations as appropriate with other members of the profession; generating peer-reviewed publications, developing appropriate education materials, online programs, interventions, reports, newsletter, websites and promotional materials; teaching a class; participating in departmental, college and university committees, and performs other related duties as assigned.

The School of Human Ecology at Tennessee Technological University (TTU) seeks applications for a 9 month, tenure-track faculty position in Food, Nutrition, and Dietetics at the Assistant/Associate Professor level to begin August 2014.

Applicant will be expected to lead a diverse and traditional Family and Consumer Sciences department that includes 5 undergraduate and 2 graduate programs. The Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Family and Consumer Sciences or related field is required. Teaching experience at the secondary level is desirable and is required at the university level. This faculty member will be expected to teach in the areas of resource management, family relationships, and/or child development at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and be qualified to serve as Teacher Educator for the department. Some advising of students is expected, as well as some amount of participation/collaboration in research, along with participation in departmental, college and university meetings and committees.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in dietetics, nutrition, or a related field or reasonably expect to complete the terminal degree by August 15, 2014. Applicants must be qualified and willing to assume the directorship of an AND-accredited program, and must be an R.D. and hold the credentials necessary to become an L.D. in the state of Texas. Experience in dietetic practice is required, and teaching experience at the college level is an asset. Background in nutritional sciences is required.

Duties will include the teaching of undergraduate and graduate courses in the areas of nutrition, foods, and dietetics. Expectations include advising and mentoring of undergraduate students, service to the department, and scholarly/research activities.
