POSITION: Associate or Assistant Professor in Family Financial Planning (9-month, tenure-track appointment)

RESPONSIBILITIES: 1) Teach on-campus and online undergraduate and graduate courses in family financial planning (FFP) with a typical teaching load of 6 to 8 courses per academic year; 2) conceptualize, develop, implement, and manage a new graduate certificate in FFP; 3) prepare innovative teaching materials, instructional techniques and curricula which contribute to effective student learning and contribute to overall department curricula; 4) focus on building the distance education capacity of both the Department and the Financial Planning Program; 5) publish articles, textbooks, reviews, and/or abstracts that reflect contributions to teaching; 6) advise students and direct graduate student practicum experiences; and 6) participate in university governance and service to professional organizations.

QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered for the position of an Assistant Professor, the applicants must hold an earned doctorate in financial planning, family economics, consumer economics, resource management, or related field. To be considered for the position of an Associate Professor the applicants must hold an earned doctorate in financial planning, family economics, consumer economics, resource management, or related field and have attained tenure at another university or at least four years as assistant professor. Applicants meeting the minimum qualifications consistent with rank of associate professor will be preferred. All applicants must have a proven record of leadership and commitment to excellence in undergraduate and graduate education in financial planning.

The Chair of the Family, Youth and Community Sciences (FYCS) Department provides overall leadership and administrative support for planning, developing, implementing and evaluating cutting-edge programs in teaching, research and Extension that develop new knowledge, set future directions and respond to student and stakeholder needs. To achieve excellence in departmental programs, the Chair actively fosters professional development and advancement of a diverse group of faculty, staff and students.

Administrative responsibilities include: budgetary and personnel management; representation of the department to state, federal and international agencies, professional and non-governmental organizations, and cooperating units within the University; and development of internal and external funding opportunities. The Chair works collaboratively with other IFAS administrators to provide leadership for delivering integrated programs that meet the needs of students, research sponsors, Extension clientele and other stakeholders. The Chair supports the vision of shared governance within the department, college and university.

The Florida State University Department of Retail Merchandising and Product Development invite applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. The starting salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. The position is available August 2013.

Contingent upon funding, the Department of Family & Consumer Sciences at Pittsburg State University is accepting applications for a Full-Time Temporary Instructor, Family & Consumer Sciences (non-tenure earning).

Position Duties and Responsibilities: The normal teaching load is four classes (12 hours) a semester. The successful applicant will teach courses in the following areas: Professional Skills, Consumer Education, Nutrition & Health, Family Resource Management and others as determined by departmental need and the knowledge and skills of the instructor. Demonstrated potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching and advising along with service is required for the position.
