Extension Personal and Family Finance Specialist

The family services program at the University of Northern Iowa seeks an assistant professor with specialization in children with special needs and their families. This is a full-time, tenure-track, nine-month appointment in the School of Applied Human Sciences, anticipated to start August 12, 2013. Family services is a National Council on Family Relations CFLE-approved program with emphasis on application, prevention and enrichment.  The School of Applied Human Sciences (SAHS) serves nearly 600 students in four undergraduate majors including family services, gerontology, interior design, and textiles and apparel, and a graduate program in counseling.  With 300 majors and minors, family services is the largest program in the School.  Family services is a multidisciplinary program, emphasizing different perspectives of family life, human development and policy.  (

Family Resource Management Field Specialist

This position is accountable to the Consumer Sciences Department Head, and serves under the programmatic direction of the Food & Family Program Director. Position Purpose: The Family Resource field specialist is responsible for providing direction for implementation of educational programming in personal and family finance. Reporting to the Food & Family Program Director, and working collaboratively with field specialists, volunteers, and campus faculty, the Family Resource Management field specialist is responsible for supporting program development, and curriculum delivery strategies in the areas of personal and family finances. The Family Resource Management field specialist connects his/her work to the latest research on financial capability, and collaborates with learning communities, campus departments, and state and community partners. The Family Resource Management field specialist supports the SDSU Extension mission, strategic vision and planning assumptions, complies with applicable federal and state laws and regulations, and all University policies, including Affirmative Action, and commits to the inclusion of diverse South Dakotans.
