Nominations for CAFCS Positions

CAFCS Members,
We are seeking nominations for the following CAFCS positions:

Vice-President Elect
Nominating Committee members (2)

If you know someone or if you yourself are interested in serving please contact Jorge Atiles ( at your earliest convenience. The only bylaws restriction is that individual interested in serving as President-Elect should have previously served in some capacity on the Executive Committee.

CAFCS's operating/fiscal year is May 1 - April 30.


Leaders in Family and Consumer Sciences

Call for Nominations, Authors, and Reviewers

Joan McFadden and Ruth Ann Ball in collaboration with Kappa Omicron Nu and Dorothy Mitstifer are undertaking the publication of Leaders in Family and Consumer Sciences to document and recognize individuals who have contributed to advancing the quality and impact of the profession of family and consumer sciences/human sciences. Recognition will be given to educators, administrators and managers, human service and business professionals, researchers, and others in the multiple practice settings and content areas who have contributed to the development of the field of study and practice.

Nominations, authors, and reviewers are solicited for biographical and autobiographical manuscripts that recognize contributions that have not been documented in a book. See link below for more details for nominating leaders and volunteering as an author and/or reviewer. Only nominations whose contributions have not been documented in a book will be considered. The criteria for selection are suggested on the nomination form.

Send an email to by October 31, 2014 or until such time as the limit for the book has been met to nominate leaders and volunteer as author and/or reviewer. 

You are cordially invited to nominate outstanding individuals for the 2014 Emerging Leader Award co-sponsored by BoHS and CAFCS. This is a GREAT opportunity to recognize a promising individual who has demonstrated significant potential as a new administrator in academia or extension by make outstanding contributions to the family and consumer sciences/human sciences profession. The award will be presented at the BoHS/CAFCS Joint Conference on March 3, 2015 at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, DC, where the recipient will give a brief presentation to the conference attendees. The recipient will receive travel reimbursement for the award presentation, as well as $1,000 honorarium.
